About

This is a communal blog written by a group of friends who all graduated from the same seminary, Anderson University School of Theology in Anderson, Indiana.  We have often shared our thoughts with each other via blog posts, emails, or Facebook messages.  Over time, though, it became clear that we need one central location for these kinds of writings…so here we are.

We call this blog “belong” because it speaks plainly of our experience of community and fellowship with each other.  Although we are now scattered in various parts of the Midwest (and around the world), we know that we need each other’s friendship and companionship to make it through our journeys of discipleship and ministry.  And when nothing else seems to be going right, we remember that we belong to each other because we belong to Christ.

The tagline “roots and leaves” speaks to how we understand ourselves in our theological community, the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) Reformation Movement.  Our rootedness in this movement forms a crucial part of our identity, both as individuals and as a group.  We believe firmly in the truth of salvation in Christ, the hope of Wesleyan holiness, and the beauty of Christian unity.  We hope to see those historical values bear new fruit in our lives and in the lives of those around us – hence the reference to “leaves” as well as “roots.”  Out of our heritage comes a new progression of ideas, dreams, thoughts, ministries, and attempts to be faithful to the call of Christ.

Welcome to our journey.  Will you share it with us?
